Hayes Carll is kicking off 2026 with new music and a whole lot of momentum.
The Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter has announced the deluxe edition of his acclaimed 2025 album We’re Only Human, arriving January 16th. The expanded release adds three new tracks, including “If We Don’t Try,” a collaboration with Ashley McBryde, plus two previously unreleased cuts titled “Not There Yet” and “Blues Be Gone.”
The original version of We’re Only Human dropped in August and quickly became one of the most celebrated Americana releases of the year. It held a Top 5 spot on the Americana Album Chart for 14 straight weeks and drew praise for being some of Carll’s most vulnerable, sharp, and emotionally revealing songwriting to date, all without losing that signature Hayes wit.
Critics more or less threw confetti at this one:
Rolling Stone called it “both vintage Carll and something brand new and unexplored,” adding that his charisma is on full display.
American Songwriter said it’s “the kind of thing the world needs right now.”
Holler described it as “one of modern Americana’s genuine masterpieces.”
The deluxe release also caps off a milestone year for Carll. In 2025 he toured the country on the Bible on the Dash Tour with Corb Lund, celebrated the 20th anniversary of his breakout album Little Rock, made his CBS Saturday Morning debut, presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to Darrell Scott at the Americana Music Awards, and even welcomed Lyle Lovett as a surprise guest during his Grateful for Christmas show in Austin.
Next up? Hitting the road again. Carll will launch his We’re Only Human Winter Tour 2026 in late January, covering nineteen markets across the U.S. Full dates are expected to be announced soon.
If you’re already a Hayes Carll fan, the deluxe edition looks like a worthy add-on. If you’re not yet, this is a pretty great place to start.
We’re Only Human (Deluxe Edition) releases January 16th on all major platforms.
