Country star Miranda Lambert is mourning the loss of a very special member of her family.
Lambert shared the news on social media that her beloved chihuahua, Cher, passed away after 15 years by her side. Adopted from a shelter at just 10 weeks old in 2010, Cher quickly became more than a pet, she was a constant companion, a road dog, and a familiar presence throughout Miranda’s career.
From riding in an overalls pocket on adoption day to making her first big trip to the ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Cher was along for it all. Lambert even shared the story of bringing her on the red carpet, dressed to match, and into the press room after her ACM win, handling it all like a pro. Over the years, Cher traveled on every tour and logged countless miles, right there beside her human.
Lambert also reflected on her long history as a rescue dog mom, sharing that when she met her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, she had nine rescue dogs. Now, they are down to one. She acknowledged the heartbreak that comes with loving animals so deeply, while also emphasizing that the joy they bring makes every tear worth it.
“It’s never enough time,” Lambert wrote, noting how quickly dog years pass and reaffirming her love for rescue animals.
Cher’s legacy lives on in the memories, miles traveled, and unconditional love she gave for 15 years, a reminder of just how special rescue dogs can be.
