Throughout his cancer battle, Raul Malo was open with fans every step of the way. The Mavericks frontman never shied away from sharing how much their love and support meant to him, especially during his final days.
So it feels fitting that his family has chosen to make his funeral service open to the public, allowing fans who were touched by his music and his life to be part of saying goodbye.
As the family prepares to celebrate Raul’s life and legacy, his wife, Betty Malo, shared details for those who wish to attend. (See above.)
Raul Malo’s funeral mass will take place Thursday, December 18, at 2 p.m. CT at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville.
In her post, Betty encouraged those planning to attend to arrive at least an hour early to allow time for parking and seating before the service begins.
Raul Malo’s music, voice, and heart left a lasting mark on countless fans, and this service offers a final opportunity for the community he loved so deeply to honor him together.
Flowers may be sent directly to the Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to MusicCares or Blackbird Academy, two organizations that were close to Raul’s heart.
