Country music legend and proud Texas native Clint Black is officially adding “author” to his long list of accomplishments. His new memoir, KILLIN’ TIME: My Life and Music, drops May 19th through Harper Influence, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
In the book, Black opens up about everything from his tough childhood on the outskirts of Houston to the wild ride that turned him into one of the biggest stars in country music. With more than 20 million records sold, 22 No. 1 singles, and decades of touring, songwriting, and personal highs and lows, Clint finally tells the story behind it all.
“This is the story of a dreamer with a persistent soul,” Black says. After years of grinding it out in Texas clubs, he never knew if Nashville would come calling… until it did. “If my story, this crazy, 40-year rollercoaster ride, can inspire that young singer-songwriter rinsing and repeating every day, or reinforce the person struggling through a seemingly endless grind in the pursuit of a dream, then I’ll know my life has made a difference.”
Harper Influence’s Lisa Sharkey says Black’s story is woven into the fabric of American music, noting that his Texas upbringing, career breakthrough, and long-running love story with actress Lisa Hartman Black make this book something truly special.
Editor Maddie Pillari adds that Killin’ Time isn’t just another musician biography: it’s “the definitive account of a transformative era in country music.”
