Cody Johnson is rolling into Wednesday night’s CMA Awards with a big night ahead of him and plenty of room on the shelf if things go his way. CoJo is up for four trophies this year: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Musical Event and Music Video of the Year for “I’m Gonna Love You” with Carrie Underwood.
And if he wins? Well, he’s already got the perfect spot ready.
Cody says a recent home renovation came with one very specific request from his wife: the hunting trophies had to find a new home. The solution? Build one.
“I redid my rodeo arena at my house,” Cody shared. “At the end of the arena, there’s a 4,000-square-foot trophy lodge and it has given me a place to put all my stuff.”
That setup isn’t just practical, it’s intentional. Cody said he never wanted his home to feel like a shrine to himself.
“I’ve been in athletes’ houses where there’s not even a damn family photo in sight,” he said. “With our forever home, I want my kids to feel like it’s theirs. I want family pictures everywhere. I want it to be about them.”
Of course, that doesn’t mean Dad doesn’t get a little perk out of the deal.
“If I condense all the trophies into one place, then when you walk into the trophy lodge you think, ‘Wow, this is all really cool.’”
