Well, this sounds fun.
Judd Apatow is getting ready to shoot a brand-new comedy, and he’s teaming up with Glen Powell to do it. The two actually wrote the script together, and the story centers around a country-western singer whose glory days are behind him. Think washed-up star, big ego, bad decisions… and the long, hilarious road to redemption.
Universal Pictures is backing the movie, and filming is expected to kick off early next year. No word yet on the rest of the cast, but with Apatow directing and Powell starring, it already feels like one to keep on the radar.
Apatow hasn’t released a big movie in a few years, and Powell has been everywhere lately, so the timing just feels right, especially with a country-music storyline.
