Willie Nelson is getting us in the holiday spirit a little early this year. His brand-new single, “Christmas Love Song,” is out now. It is a tender, heartfelt tune that feels like it could’ve only come from Willie himself.
The newly penned track was written by Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Anderson, along with Bobby Tomberlin and Marv Green, and produced by Willie’s longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon. Of course, Mickey Raphael adds that signature harmonica magic that makes any Willie record feel like home.
The lyrics say it all:
“It ain’t a lot but every word of it’s true
It don’t sparkle or shine
But it’s one of a kind
And I put my whole heart into
This Christmas love song to you.”
Simple, sweet, and straight from the heart, just the way Willie does it.
The single arrives ahead of Willie’s upcoming studio album, Workin’ Man: Willie Sings Merle, featuring new interpretations of 11 classic songs written by Merle Haggard.
So, pour a little eggnog, light up those twinkly lights, and let Willie serenade you into the season with a “Christmas Love Song.”
