Alright, alright, alright – the legend of the bongos lives on!
More than 25 years after his infamous 1999 “birthday suit and bongos” arrest in Austin, Matthew McConaughey is poking fun at himself again and this time alongside his wife, Camila, in a new ad for their Pantalones Organic Tequila brand.
The playful video has the couple doing a dramatic reading of the actual police report from that wild night, complete with bongos, laughter, and a cheeky new cocktail called “Pantsless & Famous.”
The ad even opens with the voice from Law & Order saying, “What follows is a real police report; no names have been changed because he was totally guilty.”
From scandal to celebration, McConaughey’s managed to turn one of Austin’s most talked-about moments into a marketing masterpiece.
Now that’s what we call keeping it weird, y’all.
