Blake Shelton is trading in his red chair for a tour bus and this time, he’s bringing a few familiar Texas names along for the ride.
The Road, Shelton’s brand-new CBS reality series, premieres Sunday, October 19th at 8PM CT. The show follows twelve rising country artists as they compete to become the ultimate opening act for this season’s headliner, Keith Urban and instead of fancy studio auditions, these hopefuls will prove themselves the hard way: live, on stage, in real honky-tonks across Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
This isn’t your typical glossy TV talent show. Shelton and fellow executive producer Taylor Sheridan (the mastermind behind Yellowstone) are promising something grittier, sweatier, and a whole lot more real, focusing on life on the road, the grind of gig-to-gig living, and what it really takes to make it in country music.
And get this: Gretchen Wilson joins the crew as the contestants’ no-nonsense road manager. Shelton personally tapped her for the role, so you know she’ll be keeping everyone in line.
You’ll see plenty of Texas flavor this season, including our own Briana Adams, Cody Hibbard, and Billie Jo Jones repping the Lone Star State.

Cody Hibbard, from Adair, Oklahoma (with deep Texas country roots), has already built a loyal fanbase on Texas radio.

And Billie Jo Jones is ready to prove that honky-tonk hustle still pays off.
Blake Shelton says this show isn’t about perfect performances; it’s about grit, heart, and connecting with a crowd. Sounds a whole lot like Texas to us.
Tune in, root for our KOKE artists, and see who’s ready to earn their spot on The Road.
