Country legend Mark Chesnutt has been forced to cancel a string of concerts after being hospitalized earlier this week.
The singer was set to open for Alabama on Thursday night (Oct. 16th) at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but he fell ill before taking the stage.
According to Fox News Digital, Chesnutt’s rep confirmed that the singer was admitted to Baton Rouge General Hospital Thursday morning after his flight arrived for the show.
“He is still in the hospital today for testing on a low sodium count and very high blood pressure. He is stable,” the rep shared.
In addition to missing the Baton Rouge concert, Chesnutt also had to cancel his scheduled show for Saturday (Oct. 18th) in Portales, New Mexico. His team added:
“Mark wants to apologize to the fans who came to see him in Baton Rouge and also to those who had planned to see him today in Portales, New Mexico. He hopes to be back to perform in both cities soon.”
Chesnutt himself took to social media to thank fans for their patience and prayers, saying:
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancelation of my upcoming shows. I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers, and support and I look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky tonk near you.”
This isn’t the first health scare for the country hitmaker. In June 2024, Chesnutt underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery following a heart health issue, and in 2023, he required back surgery after fracturing his spine.
Fans across the country have been flooding social media with love and support and if we know anything about Mark Chesnutt, it’s that he’ll be back on stage doing what he loves as soon as he’s cleared to sing again.
