Aaron Watson is turning heartbreak into hope.
Fourteen years ago, Aaron and his wife Kimberly lost their baby girl, Julia Grace, just 80 minutes after she was born. Every year, he honors her memory, but this year, he’s doing something extra special.
On October 9th, the day before what would’ve been Julia’s birthday, Aaron shared a video from her gravesite and talked about a little boy named Bedford. Bedford has a rare genetic disorder that limits his movement, and Aaron wants to help raise money to build a fully accessible playground so he and other kids with physical challenges can play safely.
“To honor her, we would like to try to raise some money for a little boy named Bedford,” Aaron said through tears. “We just wanna raise enough money for him so that he can have a playground.”
In the video, Aaron also sang “Bluebonnets (Julia’s Song),” the beautiful track he wrote for his daughter that appeared on his 2015 album The Underdog. If you’ve ever seen him perform it live, you know there’s not a dry eye in the room.
Julia was born with Trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal disorder. Despite knowing the challenges ahead, Aaron and Kimberly chose to carry her to term and cherish every second they could with her. They got 80 precious minutes and she’s been part of their story ever since.
Now, the Watsons are using Julia’s memory to help others. Aaron shared links to Bedford’s story and the fundraiser, hoping fans will help make the playground a reality.
It’s a powerful reminder of what Aaron’s always stood for: faith, family, and using music to make a difference.
