Remember when Morgan Wallen allegedly chucked a chair off the rooftop of Eric Church’s bar in Nashville last year? Yeah, the “chair throw heard ‘round the world” is back in the headlines, this time with bodycam footage that is equal parts chaotic and cringe.
Let’s rewind: cops rolled up to Chief’s, Eric Church’s Broadway bar, after a chair came crashing down from the rooftop. Morgan got slapped with three felony reckless endangerment charges and one disorderly conduct charge. In the end, he pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment, got probation, and spent a week at a DUI education facility.
Case closed, right? Wrong. The newly released video just added a whole new chapter to the saga.
Here are the highlights straight out of the “you can’t make this up” file:
-
Morgan Denies Everything – Over and over, even after officers tell him they’ve literally got him on security video.
-
The Eric Church Hotline – At one point, he whips out his phone, calls Eric Church, and hands it to the officer like Eric could say the magic words and make the cuffs disappear. Spoiler alert: that’s not how it works.
-
Soundtrack to an Arrest – After police put him in the back of the car, one of his songs came on the radio. Instead of sulking, Morgan tells the cop to turn it up and starts singing along to himself. Because, of course he did.
It’s a bizarre mix of denial, celebrity phone-a-friend, and karaoke hour in the back of a squad car. Honestly, you couldn’t script this stuff better if you tried.
