If you’ve ever two-stepped under those old tin rafters in Gruene, you know there’s just something special about that place. Well, the oldest dance hall in Texas is about to hit the big 5-0 under the Molak family’s care, and they’re celebrating the only way they know how … by throwing one heck of a free party.
On Saturday, September 20th from 1–5 PM, the doors are wide open for a free anniversary show with The Texases. These guys are known for putting their spin on classic country hits, and they’ll be covering songs from every decade of Gruene’s history, think Strait, Willie, Miranda, Charley Crockett, and a whole lot more. Oh, and did we mention $3 domestic beers?
Gruene Hall has been around since 1878, and if those walls could talk, they’d probably have more stories than all of us combined. For the last 50 years, the Molak family has kept it alive and thriving, restoring not just the hall but the whole Gruene area.
So, if you’ve ever danced, sweated, laughed, or cried in Gruene Hall (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?), this is your chance to celebrate everything the old girl stands for. Come raise a cold one, hear some great tunes, and be part of Texas music history.
