Today, August 20th, we’re celebrating one of Texas country’s brightest stars, Aaron Watson! The Amarillo native has spent more than two decades proving that hard work, authenticity, and a whole lot of heart can take you straight to the top.
Watson isn’t just known as The Honky Tonk Kid, he’s also one of the biggest independent success stories in country music. Back in 2015, his album The Underdog made history as the first independent release by a male artist to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Since then, he’s kept the momentum going with albums like Vaquero and Red Bandana, not to mention radio hits like ‘Outta Style’, which earned him both a BMI Award and a BMI Millionaire Award.
And the honors don’t stop there: Watson was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2020, has won big at the Texas Country Music Awards, and even has his very own “Aaron Watson Day” in Fort Worth. Pretty legendary if you ask us.
But beyond the awards and sold-out shows, Aaron’s fans know him best as a family man, a man of faith, and someone who always makes time for the people who’ve supported his journey.
So today, join us in tipping our hats to Aaron Watson! Here’s to more music, more milestones, and plenty more cowboy hat tosses along the way.
