I live in Burleson TX…… Travel the US for work… Streaming KOKE fm while driving makes the many miles traveled enjoyable. Thanks KOKE!
Very sad to read this.
I understand that for whatever reasons you were maybe “forced” to do this but, sadly, this will be the last day listening to KOKE-FM. I’m not permitted to stream on my work computer and my cell service is too spotty to run your app. While you might gain more customers (not sure how that works that they will know you exist), you’ll also lose some. I’m saddened to see you go. I’m really going to miss the morning show. I’ve been a listener ever since moving to TX in 2007. 🙁
I’m extremely sad to hear this. I can understand the explanation for more digital exposure, but by removing the radio access you are disregarding many of your ‘older and more mature’ listeners who aren’t into all of the digital world. Now, if there are other issues like unreliability of over the air transmissions, that’s a totally different situation.
I would like to ask that you give serious thought to getting back to serving ALL of your listeners, by returning to the airways. As Bob Cole might say, your ‘Audio Radiance’ will appreciate it.
Thanks.
What is the status of Bob Cole and Eric Raines? Are they no longer on the radio?
Bob and Eric are no longer with KOKE.
Turned on KOKE as I do every weekday morning and didn’t hear Bob or Eric. Finally found out why. I’m so disappointed. I grew up with KOKE and Bob and enjoyed the morning talk and banter. KOKE has been turned off and I won’t be back.
Basically the reason I listen to KOKE is because Eric Raines is the best country radio programmer and DJ in Texas. The morning show with him and Bob is how I start every weekday. I am devastated and angry.
Really sad to hear this, both just streaming and Bob Cole leaving the station. One of my highlights that I have had every morning is listening to the morning show with Bob and company with all of his contacts, interviews and local flare that makes Austin what it is or used to be. Bob (or Sammy in the past) never had an issue getting the straight answer and whether local, state or national politics.
Im going to miss listening to koke fm, can’t stream at work and have no other way outside of my phone to stream Which service sucks at home , good luck, your going to be missed by all who support and listen over the radio.
Ugh this is tragic. I use the app when I’m traveling anyway, but why aren’t Bob & Eric streaming the morning show right now? 🙁 I will miss being able to tune in on the dial.
I live in Wylie, TX, north of Dallas. I rarely listen to Dallas radio, it is too “POP Country” for me. When I do listen to a Dallas station, I have to double check and make sure I am even listening to a country music station or did my daughter leave it on a POP or rap station. I love KOKE FM, I have listened for years and have turned many others on to your station. I listen everyday while working and in my car. Since I am not in the Austin area this change will not affect me as I listen through the app and on my smart speaker. As long as you keep playing real country music and stay away from the POP country music I will continue to tune in!!
KOKE FM has been my #1 station for country music. Especially Texas country. I hope that yall don’t change everything and are still ironing things out. On top of the music and the djs, I also enjoy hearing the daily news, weather and traffic reports both in the morning and evenings.
Good luck with the change and hope you don’t lose all your loyal listeners.
This is a get off my lawn comment from someone who is getting used to/tired of KOKE crapping out on its listeners. I understand selling out … just hope it was worth it. Have no idea who your target audience is now, but I’m sure you’ve lost a bunch of long termers. Good luck, I guess. On a positive note, 99.5 makes me feel right at home … erratic, spotty coverage and all. AMF
I’m not happy with this transition and will miss listening on my way to work and home in my old truck. Please come back to radio again soon.
Agreed
I work from home. So I’m not in my truck much and when I am and xm doesn’t have anything worthy on, I’ll turn it on to koke. I’m on way to Bible study yesterday. And I turn it on, like I always do. And IT’S Tejano. I’m so so sad. I can’t listen now in my truck. First 105.3 turned. They had really good classic rock. And now yall. I hate listening to that clear channel crap. 😒 what a sad day in Austin
Agreed
Bring back normal non streaming radio, and Bob and Eric. They were the best morning show personalities in the area. Don’t want to have to log into an ap when I get in a vehicle to drive. Just want to turn on the vehicle and the radio station be on. Not everyone streams or wants to. I used to enjoy Koke fm. Now I have to find another station to listen to.
We understand your frustration and appreciate your years of listening.
Created an account just to log in and tell you that as a result of you moving solely to streaming, I will no longer listen to your station. Even if you came back to regular radio the fact that Bob and Eric are gone seals the deal for me. So long KOKE FM…
As another long listener, I too am sad and will miss Bin and Eric and the original Austin Outlaw Radio station.
Always promises of no change or better change. As with the GREAT Whataburger when purchased. The same old quality and burger with great food. YEA! I grew up with the Whataburger in Corpus and since the change, so many other options and sadly the original burger has been outdone now by so many others. I realized change is inevitable but I’m really afraid KOKE as we have long known it is NO MORE!
Thanks Bob, Eric, Sammy, Troy, and all the others for so many great years.
Whoops!! Bob and Eric, not Bin. Sorry Bob.
I don’t like the change at all. More importantly are Bob & Eric retiring from radio? A great morning duo I truly enjoyed listening to. The question arises Why! Why are they no more and where did they go?
I’m so glad to know that at this time Scotty, Amber & Rita will remain familiar voices to listen to!
I’m among those who are ticked off. I LIKE listening to radio over actual airwaves. It was cool to say I’d heard Jimmie Rogers on an actual commercial radio station. Anyone can set up an online stream of whatever, hearing the good old stuff on a station with an actual transmitter and bills to pay was special. And the only program of yours I listen to is Country Gold. I’m concerned that that will go away because this move may tick off older, tech-averse listeners who grew up on the classic stuff. By the way, I’m only 30. So I think I’m still in a highly-valued listener age bracket.
I’m also just curious why you can’t have both streaming and a terrestrial broadcast? I have listened to your stream while traveling out of state. I appreciate the convenience, but only when I have no other choice.
