Any Texan will tell you that watching the Dallas Cowboys play on Thanksgiving is just as big a tradition as the Macy’s Parade… maybe even bigger. That being said, it’s only fair that an iconic game has an iconic halftime performance, and Dallas did not disappoint.
Yesterday morning, the Dallas Cowboys announced on social media that country music legend, Dolly Parton, will be this year’s halftime performer and, honestly, we don’t know why this didn’t happen sooner.
If you know the Cowboys, then you know The Salvation Army has sponsored the Thanksgiving Game since 1997, raising billions of dollars to help feed those in need during the holidays. And if you know Dolly Parton, you’d know she’s an active philanthropist, helping out her community any chance she can get.
In a press release, Parton said she’s honored to perform at this year’s event stating, “those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times. My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”
Tune into CBS on November 23rd at 3:30 PM CST to watch Dallas take on the Washington Commanders.
