If you think you need a vacation… you probably do.
A recent study by FinanceBuzz lists Austin, TX as the third most overworked city in the US, coming in behind Denver, CO at #2 and Washington D.C. at #1. The study took the 50 most populated cities in the US and ranked them based off of the following factors:
- Average number of hours worked per week
- Average commute time
- Percentage of households where two or more people have jobs
- Percentage of workers that work 50+ weeks per year
- Percentage of active workers that are aged 65+
- Percentage of workers in each city’s state who have two or more jobs
- Percentage of workers with a side hustle
And the data is quite astonishing. Not only do two in three Austinites work 50+ weeks out of the year, but according to Josh Koebert from FinanceBuzz, “sixty percent of households in Austin have two full-time workers, and the average around the country is 54 percent.”
His thoughts? “You guys aren’t taking enough vacations. Use [your PTO], don’t just let it sit. Take the time when you need to get out of the office and get out and recharge your batteries so you can come back fresh.”
So there you go, people.
