KOKE-FM has learned that singer-songwriter Charlie Robison has passed away, he was 59.
Robison’s sister, Robyn Ludwick made the announcement Sunday in a Facebook Post.
“Today my heart is broken in the deepest most irreparable way. My big brother Charlie passed away in the arms of his loved ones. Please play some Charlie Robison on Repeat. He would want it that way. 💔”
Robison and his brother Bruce began playing gigs across Bandera by the time Charlie was 15. He morphed into one of the industries great storytellers, Robison released 9 albums, and was a part of full bands Chapparals, Two Hoots and a Holler, and The Millionaire Playboys, plus sharing the stage with countless peers across his 25+ year career.
Some of his signature hits include “El Cerrito Place,” “My Hometown,” and “Barlight”.
In September 2018 Charlie Robison stunned fans with the abrupt video announcement of his retiring. He would only expand to say following complications from a surgical procedure that left “the permanent inability to sing.”
A cause of death was not released. Our hearts are with the family, friends, and fans of Charlie Robison.
