Jeff Beck, one of the most influential guitarists of modern times, passed away Tuesday according to a statement made by his family.
“On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday,” reads a statement from his rep. “His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.”
Beck was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame both as a soloist and as the guitarist for the 60’s band The Yardbirds. He is also an eight-time Grammy Award-winner; seven for instrumental performances, and an eighth for his 2009 work on Herbie Hancock’s “The Imagine Project.”
