Grammy award-winning singer, mother of Wynonna and Ashley, half of the iconic duo The Judds, Naomi Judd has passed away at the age of 76.
Daughters, Wynonna and Ashley released the news of their mother’s passing in a statement to the Associated Press today (April 30, 2022)
“Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness,” the statement reads. “We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”
The statement did not include a cause of death.
The Judds were scheduled to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame tomorrow, Sunday (May 1).
The mother/daughter duo scored 14 number ones during their short and successful career.
