Bobbie Nelson, Willie Nelson’s sister, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 10th surrounded by family at the age of 91.
Bobbie was Willie Nelson’s first band member playing piano for her brother. The two remained extremely close creating music together and wrote two books; the memoir Me and Sister Bobbie: True Tales of The Family Band (2020 Random House) and the children’s book Sister, Brother, Family: An American Childhood in Music (2021, Doubleday).
“Her elegance, grace, beauty and talent made this world a better place. She was the first member of Willie’s band, as his pianist and singer, our hearts are broken and she will be deeply missed. But we are so lucky to have had her in our lives.” -From a statement released by the Nelson family
No cause of death has been released and the Nelson family asks for privacy at this time.
