Saturday is #NationalDanceDay and there is no better way to celebrate than slipping on your favorite pair of boots and hitting the dance floor! Luckily, Austin is still home to some great honky-tonks!
One of the city’s most popular country venues is Broken Spoke, which claims to be the “last of the true Texas dance halls and damn sure proud of it!” It offers country dancing, a full menu, and live music from big-time country stars like Garth Brooks. The Spoke’s southern charm is undeniable making it the perfect place to boot scoot’ and boogie.
The Little Longhorn Saloon is as small as its name implies but don’t let its quaint appearance fool you, the party is always big. This saloon offers live country music six nights a week, happy hour six nights a week, and a dance floor big enough to grab your honey and two-step the night away.
Shiner’s Saloon is always a good time with free live country music and dancing every night of the week. Be assured that you will always hear your favorite songs at Shiner’s because they are open to requests. You’ll never go home hungry after a night at this honky-tonk because they serve up Tex-Mex and BBQ until 2 am!
The White Horse is one of Austin’s most beloved honkey-tonks. It offers a spacious dance floor and live music seven nights a week. Don’t worry if you’ve lost your country mojo because The White Horse has dance lessons that will help you get the boot scoot back in your boogie!
A few other honky-tonks that offer dancing include the Rattle Inn, The Contential Club, and Giddy Ups.
