With what was supposed to be an early mid-afternoon game turned into a late night match-up between number 2 Texas and Virginia. Winner moves on, Loser Goes Home.
To Start off, Ivan Melendez hit a double which allowed Douglas Hodo III to pick up an RBI single and give Texas a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
After that it became a defensive game with the next run arriving in the fifth inning when a pitch broke away and let left fielder Eric Kennedy score from third.
Then came Zach Zubia to give Texas a 6-2 Lead with bases loaded.
Texas now will play a rematch against Mississippi at 6:00 p.m. CT with pregame at 5:45 p.m. on Austin Radio Network’s The Horn 104.9-FM.
The Longhorns must win two games to move to the College World Series final, beginning Monday, June 28.
