Three country singers are asked to be bridesmaids at a friend’s wedding and then went on to be the biggest stars of the decade. It could be something out of a movie. But it’s what happened to Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw, and Garth Brooks.
The story was told on Tim McGaw’s Apple Music podcast Beyond the Influence Radio With Tim McGraw, where he says that he, Garth, and Tracy were all bridesmaids… or bridesmen for at a mutual friends wedding at the peak of their careers and when he was just starting out.
The friend is Tammy Rose who Tim says is someone “who sort of took new artists under their wing when they first moved to town” he went on to say “So we’re all bridesmaids at this wedding for Tammy, and I’m standing there. I’m sort of in awe … You know, Tracy and I had been friends for a while, and he had his success, but Garth was there, and I’m sort of in awe of Garth being there.”
Pretty wild, you find out who your friends are… If Kenny Chesney had been a part of that wedding group that could be the secret story behind how the trio met, but Garth is as cool a friend as any.
