If you love being kissed and loved on, come meet Floppy! Within minutes of meeting you, he’ll lay a big kiss on you. Any time you look this people-lovin’ pooch in the eye, he’ll pop up and give you another smooch!
Floppy has a lot of personality and with his head tilts, expressive eyes and a twitch of his ears, you’ll know exactly what this inquisitive guy is thinking. Floppy’s a great listener and seems so happy when you talk to him. He sits intently and loves hearing your stories, especially when there are treats involved!
Floppy has a blast with his toys and LOVES to chase balls and and play tug of war. While he’s a very playful guy, he also has a pretty laid-back personality and loves coming in close for scritches and cuddling. At home he does well in his crate and is able to keep himself entertained with a Kong. While Floppy likes having all of his person’s attention, he may be able to go home with a well-matched doggy sibling.
Floppy really loves going on walks, he’s great on the trail and is so excited to smell the smells and roll around in the grass. He’s on the Rufftail Team and behaves very well on his leash when passing other dogs, people and bikes. But his skills don’t end there! This smart pup is thriving in APA!’s Total Obedience Program, which is modeled after the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
As a TOP dog, Floppy has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! He is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told “free,” coming when called and “place”, which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command. Floppy is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA’s Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with him after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Treat-motivated and eager to please, Floppy would love a person who will take him on trail adventures and continue with his training. A big yard to play fetch in would be a bonus.
