The circle will continue to be unbroken when Luke Combs and Craig Morgan take the Grand Ole Opry stage Saturday night (April 25th) for a live performance.
Luke Combs is, of course, one of the hottest names in county music and with his traditional leaning sound, you can’t help but be a fan of his work. But it’s not Luke that makes the night special it’s Craig.
Saturday night will be just three days past Craig Morgan’s twenty-year anniversary of his Grand Ole Opry debut on April 21st, 2,000. He has performed countless times since and had quite possibly the most moving performance on the historic stage last September with his song ‘The Father, My Son and The Holy Ghost’ written about the loss of his son in a tubing accident in 2016
You won’t find a song written from something more personal than that, but many of his songs seem just as real. Now before you start thinking the ‘Redneck Yacht Club’ guy singing from the heart, really? As fun as that song is, it doesn’t reflect the writer and performer he is. Think of ‘Almost Home’ ‘If Not Me’ ‘Wake Uo Lovin’ You’ and many others.
He’s lived a life full of experiences most other artists can’t compare. Growing up in a military family Morgan has spent time as an EMT, a contractor, a sheriff’s deputy, and a Walmart assistant dairy manager, in addition to his 10-years in Army himself.
Here’s to another historic night.
