Layla Evetts and twin sister, Rayleigh, celebrated their 7th birthday with a special guest, Aaron Watson.
Aaron Watson had previously met Layla, who is diagnosed with a form of brain cancer titled DIPG, at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo in Waco where she joined him on stage.
“The first time I met her, she ran and… jumped into my arms and… told me she loved me,” said Watson. Watson brought his daughter, Jolee Kate, as well to join in the festivities.
“To love my own kid like she is his own child, is something special… he is salt of the earth kind of people,” said father Corey Evetts.
Watson, his daughter, and the Evetts sisters also participated in the #LemonFaceChallenge, a social media challenge aimed to spread awareness about DIPG.
“These are the kinds of things in life that are important. Country music is way down on the list. Family and friends, those are the things that matter the most,” said Watson.
