A public viewing for the nation’s oldest man and World War II veteran Richard Overton will be held Friday, January 11th from 12:00-6:00 pm at Cook-Walden Funeral Home located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd in Austin.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at Shoreline Church in North Austin at 11 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. interment at the Texas State Cemetery in East Austin. The funeral and interment are open to the public.
Overton, who was 112 years old when he died on Dec. 27, was called an “American icon and Texas legend” by Gov. Greg Abbott.
