Sturgill Simpson has joined the fight to stop ticket scalpers from ripping people off. He is following Eric Church’s blueprint by canceling tickets purchased by bots, and putting them back up for sale at normal price.
So, anyone who bought tickets through the secondary market to one of his shows may be very disappointed. He’s also working on an “experimental ticketing system” that’ll prevent the scalpers from hoarding all the tickets.
He talked about all of this on Facebook, and voiced a little anger while he was at it.
Quote, “It infuriates me to see people being shut out from the opportunity to come to our show for a price I designate. I know exactly who I work for and my tickets will always be affordable and no amount of trophies in the world will ever change that.”
He’d appreciate some help from the fans too. Quote, “The only way to put a stop to this is for people to stop buying tickets from scalpers, or to make so much noise it forces politicians to stop taking money from lobbyists that pay them fat stacks of coin to keep online scalping legal.”
