The Keith Whitley Memorial Concert is to honor the artistic contributions to Country Music from Keith Whitley as a songwriter, performer, Husband, Father, and his deep rich history from growing up in Kentucky playing Bluegrass and Country Music. He started playing music with his brother and father in a family band. He then started a bluegrass group with Ricky Skaggs. This year is the 30th anniversary of Keith’s Death May 9, 2019. The tradition of riding Motorcycles from Keith’s home town of Sandy Hook Kentucky to Nashville on the anniversary of his death has been going on for over 20 years. The ride started out with about 20 riders and has increased to over 300. Keith loved motorcycles and lost his brother Randy Whitley in a motorcycle Accident in 1983. The riders arrive at the Spring Hill cemetery where Keith Whitley is buried and have a memorial service at his grave site. They then have rode into Nashville and family and Friends would gather that evening for a concert at various locations over the years. Keith Whitley recorded only 4 albums during his young career and died at the age of 33. This year for the 30th anniversary the concert will be held at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Approx. 20 artist will pay tribute to Keith Whitley and his music, each singing a Keith Whitley song backed by the Lorrie Morgan Band. Lorrie Morgan will host this event along with her son Jesse Keith Whitley.
