Chief Engineer/Broadcast IT Administrator

Austin Radio Network has an immediate opening for a Chief Engineer/Broadcast IT Administrator. This full-time position will manage the day to day operations and maintenance of RF transmitters, broadcast equipment, office electronics, and information technologies which support the day to day broadcast and business operations of this radio station cluster.

Responsibilities

Maintenance, repair, and installation of multi-station RF, transmitters, studio, office electronics, computers and IT systems. This position requires availability for after-hours emergencies.

Working Relationships

– Good customer service skills in technical support of broadcast and business operations personnel – Communicate with all internal departments to help address their technical needs
– Position reports to the Market Manager

Key Tasks

– Maintain studio and radio transmission systems
– Maintain office and studio IT support tasks
– Routine inspection and maintenance of radio broadcast and IT systems
– Perform transmitter site facilities maintenance
– Supervise the execution of live station remote broadcasts on-air and on the internet – Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurability
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
– Maintain office/studio VoIP phone system

Qualifications

Minimum five years of experience in broadcast engineering and broadcast IT related field. Any Cisco, Palo Alto, Microsoft, CompTIA, Ubiquiti Networks or SBE certifications a plus.
Five years of prior experience with broadcast transmission and studio audio equipment.
Five years Axia Audio (Livewire, Element, StudioEngine, Pathfinder configuration and troubleshooting) experience. Five years RF transmitting equipment operation, maintenance.

Internships

We are currently seeking Morning Show, Promotions and Sales interns. If you are interested in the radio business, this is a great place to build experience!

Interns will be responsible for preparing materials for the broadcast, updating the station website and social media accounts, editing and cutting the show podcast, doing other tasks as assigned by radio staff, and more!

This internship is unpaid, but can qualify for class credit. Recent graduates seeking experience are encouraged to apply.
