Don Miller was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but moved to Texas as quickly as possible. Don has been a radio personality in Austin for over a quarter century, and has worked as a program, production and traffic (as in cars stopped on freeways) director.
Don on the traffic problems in Austin: “It all has to do with questionable planning and the slow reaction to the historic growth Austin has experienced over the last several years. In addition, the fact that this city does not have a major east-west freeway through the center of town is quite a crippling factor. But if that is all you have to complain about, then you are way ahead of the game when it comes to where you want to settle. I consider Austin the best city in America, and based on the explosive growth, I am far from being alone.
Don on the best place to be stuck in traffic: Anywhere on Loop 360. If you have to be in a backup, at least you can enjoy the incredible scenery.
Don on KOKE-FM: “Man what a station. I feel so blessed to be here. No radio outlet in town combines an examination of the emerging music scene, and, at the same time, embraces the traditions of the city. If you are new to Austin or if you have been here for a while, just tune in for for a while and you’ll hear what I mean. AUSTIN NEEDS KOKE-FM!”
