Dennis “Emeritus” Farris joined the KOKE family in February 2015 after retiring from a 30-year career in law enforcement, 25 of those as an Austin Police Officer. During his time with APD, Dennis worked as a patrol officer, in the police technology unit, as the Chief’s General Support Officer and finally in the Executive Protection Unit where he coordinated presidential and dignitary visits to our fair City.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Dennis attended the University of Texas where he studied(ish) Kinesiology and focused much of his attention working as a Student Manager for the University of Texas Football Team. His love of football later took him to the United States Football League (USFL) where he worked as an equipment manager for the San Antonio Gunslingers. After Donald Trump submarined and destroyed the USFL, Dennis returned to Austin. #notbitter
Dennis has two sons, Adam, 26 and Joshua, 24, and a wife, Tara, who isn’t far ahead of them in age and a couple of dogs, Dashbee and Sailor, who take up the bed at night without regard for the fact that they keep him awake.
Dennis loves the experience of being an on-air personality for KOKE yet suspects that the morning team only keeps him around because he brings everyone Starbucks (which is a good enough reason for him). Latte anyone?
